About the event
——— versione italiana a seguire ———
🇬🇧 European cities strive to reduce inequalities, addressing not only physical barriers but also the lack of representation in urban planning. Inaccessibility concerns both mobility and the sense of belonging to urban spaces, considering gender perspectives.
Programs like URBACT and EU structural funds promote more inclusive, safe, and sustainable cities, enhancing environmental well-being and quality of life alongside economic progress.
These themes lead us to reflect on the meaning of urban living and the economic and social vulnerabilities related to sexism, ageism, and racism. What does the "right to the city" mean today, in increasingly privatized spaces where people are free to consume but not simply to be?
Finally, is the stereotype of streets as male domains and homes as female spaces still relevant? Do women shape or endure the city? How well are they represented in urban planning?
